Saving the Story PDF Print E-mail

One of our first tasks is to identify the major organizations that have taken on the responsibility of collecting material on the Korean War. The Korean War National Museum will attempt to indicate what is available in these collections and how that material can be accessed. In most cases website links will be provided to the named organization.

The Korean War National Museum is the ‘new kid on the block’ in terms of documenting the story of the Korean War.  Many other organizations have been doing so for many years.  The best use of limited resources is not to duplicate what has already been done but to help make existing research more widely available to those who have an interest in studying the Korean War.  So our first task is to document what is already ‘out there’ in terms of research publications, books, tapes, CDs, letters, and the location of archives and libraries that houses this material.

Our next task is to save the material that is ‘at risk’ of being lost.  Here we include personal diaries, letters, photographs and stories of Korean War Veterans and their families.  We are also concerned about saving the material that is posted on the millions of web sites dealing with the Korean War.  Daily hundreds of those web sites disappear as their creators pass on or no longer want to invest the time, energy or expense in keeping that web site viable.

The Korean War National Museum will not knowingly publish on this web site any material that is copyrighted without permission of the copyright owner. Please contact us immediately if you feel we have infringed on your rights. On the other hand anything on this web site may be copied by anyone for any reason with the single caveat that acknowledgment as to source will be given.  In order to promote the widest circulation of the story of the Korean War one needs to allow the free circulation of all material available on that war.
